This policy covers the HopSlide apps for iPhone and Android and the website hopslide.com. In it, “we” and “us” means CircleRoll LLC. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use the content of your messages, calls or voicemail for advertising, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
Who we are
CircleRoll LLC, a United States company, provides HopSlide and is the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us at hello@2ndphoneline.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash), or, if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, the account identifier and email address they share with us. With Apple you can choose to hide your email. We never ask for your existing phone number.
- Your numbers and their settings: the numbers you choose, their names, greetings you record, forwarding, Do Not Disturb, business hours, auto-reply rules, quick replies and signatures.
- Contacts you save in the app. If you allow access to your device contacts, the app reads them on your phone to show names. Only contacts you save in HopSlide, and the phone numbers of contacts you choose to sync for features such as silencing unknown callers, are stored on our servers.
- Support requests you send by email, through the contact form, or from the app.
- Documents for a number, only where a country requires them: some countries' regulators require proof of address, identity or business registration before a number there can be issued. If you ask for a number in one of those countries, the documents you upload in the app are kept in private storage and used only to meet that country's requirements, which means sharing them with our phone service provider for its review.
Information created when you use the service
- Message content: the texts, picture messages, group messages, voice notes and attachments you send and receive on your HopSlide numbers.
- Voicemail: audio a caller chooses to leave and its automatic transcript.
- Call and message records: the numbers you call and text and that contact you, times, durations, delivery status and any international credit spent.
- Purchases: your plan, renewal dates and store transaction identifiers. We never receive or store your card number: Apple or Google takes payment in the apps, and our payment provider takes it for purchases on the web. For a purchase on the web we also keep a record of the terms shown at checkout and when you agreed to them.
- Device and technical data: device model, operating system and app version, the push tokens needed to deliver notifications and ring your phone, IP address in server logs, and crash reports (through our analytics and crash-reporting providers on iPhone, Android and the web app). See Analytics and your choice.
- Advertising data, on the free plan only: described under Ads and your choices.
What we do not collect
- Your precise location. The app never asks for it.
- Recordings of your calls. Call recording is not offered.
- Cookies or tracking pixels on this website. The site counts page views and store-button taps without cookies or any stored identifier, and it does not count visitors whose browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. It loads no other third-party content. If you choose a language, it stores that choice in one cookie (pl_lang) that holds only the language code, for a year.
The app uses your microphone only during a call or while you record a voice note or greeting, and your camera and photos only when you choose to take or attach a picture.
How we use it
- To provide your number, deliver your texts and calls, and store your voicemail.
- To bill accurately: international credit is used only after the carrier confirms the text was sent or the call connected, and returned when it fails.
- To send you service messages by email or notification: sign-in and security notices, receipts, and warnings before a number is released.
- To keep the service safe: preventing fraud, spam and abuse, enforcing the published fair-use limits, and meeting carrier rules.
- To answer you when you contact support.
- To show ads on the free plan, as described below.
- To meet legal obligations, such as responding to valid legal process.
Legal bases
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), we rely on: contract, to provide the service you signed up for; legitimate interests, to keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix faults; consent, for personalised ads, notifications and access to your contacts, microphone and camera, which you can withdraw at any time in the app or your phone's settings; and legal obligation, where a law requires us to keep or disclose information.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the kinds of service provider that run HopSlide for us. Each may use it only to provide its service to us:
| Who | What they do for us, and what they receive |
|---|---|
| Hosting and storage | Service providers that host our servers, website and database. They hold your account details, messages, attachments, voicemail, call and message records and settings, and see request data such as IP address, browser and time in server logs. |
| Calls, texts and voicemail | Service providers that carry your calls, texts (SMS and MMS) and voicemail, record and transcribe voicemail, and supply your numbers. They receive your numbers, the numbers you contact, message content, call audio in transit and voicemail audio, and any documents a country requires for a number there. |
| Other phone networks | The networks that deliver a text or call to the person you contact. They receive the numbers involved, message content and call audio, which pass through the recipient's network. |
| Payments and subscriptions | Service providers that process payments and keep subscription and purchase records, together with the app store you bought through (Apple App Store or Google Play). They receive an account identifier, products bought, renewal and expiry dates and store transaction identifiers. For a purchase on the web they also receive your email address, billing country and postal code, the amount, and information about the device and browser used at checkout. We never receive your card details; for a purchase on the web, our payment processor receives them and screens the payment for fraud. |
| Email and notifications | Service providers that send email (sign-in links, receipts, voicemail-to-email, number warnings, support replies) and push notifications. They receive your email address or device token and the message being sent. |
| Analytics and crash reports | Service providers that help us see where people get stuck and find crashes, only as described under Analytics and your choice. They receive a random account identifier (not your email or number), app version, device model and operating system, the in-app steps listed there, and crash reports. |
| Ads, on the free plan only | Advertising partners that show and measure ads on the free plan, as described under Ads and your choices. They do not receive the content of your messages, calls or voicemail. |
We also disclose information when the law requires it, in response to valid legal process such as a subpoena or court order, or when we believe in good faith that it is needed to prevent death or serious harm. If CircleRoll LLC is involved in a merger or sale, personal information may transfer to the new owner under the terms of this policy, and we will tell you before that happens.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Text messaging
Your HopSlide number sends the texts you write to the people you choose, and receives the texts they send you. We do not send marketing texts. The program terms, including message frequency, rates and how STOP and HELP work, are on the SMS program page. When someone replies STOP to your number, we record it and stop your number texting them until they reply START.
Call records (CPNI)
Customer proprietary network information (CPNI) is information about how you use a phone service: who you call and text, when, and for how long. We use CPNI only to provide HopSlide, to bill you, and to protect you, us and other people from fraud and abuse. We do not sell CPNI and do not disclose it to third parties for their marketing. Your choices are in the app under Settings, Privacy, Call record preferences; all are off by default. We disclose CPNI to anyone else only with your consent or when the law requires it, and we will tell you by email if we learn that someone obtained your CPNI without authorisation.
To check that setup works, we record once per account whether your number has sent and received its first text and call. This goes to our analytics provider without numbers, times of later use or content.
Analytics and your choice
We use analytics and crash-reporting providers to see where people get stuck and to find crashes. They record a fixed list of steps and nothing you type: signing in, choosing and claiming a number, the permission prompts, viewing and choosing a plan, buying, restoring or cancelling a purchase, the first text or call on a new number, number warnings and releases, linking a browser, and errors and crashes. Each step carries only fixed values such as the product bought, the method you signed in with, or an error code. Never message text, numbers, contacts, search terms, voicemail or location.
- Who it is attached to: a random account identifier, not your email or phone number. Your IP address reaches our analytics provider in transit as with any website, but it is not stored with the events and no location is looked up.
- Purchases are counted by our servers from our subscription records, so renewals and refunds are included. If you switch usage reports off, purchases are still counted, without naming anyone.
- Your choice: it starts off for accounts created in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and on for everyone else. To switch it off, or on, email hello@2ndphoneline.com and tell us how you sign in (Apple, Google or email); we change it on your account, and this covers the apps and the web app. Switching it off stops what has not been sent yet and removes the identifier our analytics provider had for your device. On the website, a browser that sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is not counted, and the web app does not send anything for a browser that sends Global Privacy Control.
- Deleting your account deletes your analytics profile and its events. If our analytics provider cannot be reached at that moment we are told about the failure and finish the deletion by hand.
- This website counts page views and store-button taps without cookies and without identifying anyone (see What we do not collect).
Call recording
HopSlide does not record calls and does not offer call recording. The only audio we store is voicemail that a caller chooses to leave after your greeting, greetings you record, and voice notes you send.
Verification codes
Your number is an internet (VoIP) number. Some banks, apps and services refuse VoIP numbers or do not send verification codes to them. We cannot guarantee that any service will accept your number or deliver a code to it, and we never read, use or share the codes you receive. Do not use a HopSlide number as the only recovery number for an account you cannot afford to lose.
Ads and your choices
On the free plan the app shows one ad in your messages list, plus optional videos you can choose to watch for international credit. Ads are served by our advertising partners. Plus and Ad-free show no ads, and ads never appear in a conversation, during or after a call, or on billing, safety or legal screens.
- To choose and measure ads, our advertising partners receive device information, your IP address (from which they estimate approximate location), and how you interact with ads. They do not receive the content of your messages, calls or voicemail.
- iPhone: the app asks your permission before using your device's advertising identifier. If you decline, ads are not personalised with it.
- Android: you can delete or reset your advertising ID in your phone's settings under Google, then Ads.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: you are asked for consent before personalised ads, and you can change your choice later from the app's privacy settings.
How long we keep it
| Information | Kept until |
|---|---|
| Account details and settings | You delete your account |
| Texts and attachments | You delete them, the conversation or your account. Disappearing messages are deleted from our servers when their timer runs out. |
| Voicemail audio and transcripts | You delete them or your account. Our phone service provider's copy is deleted once ours is stored. |
| Call and message records | You delete them or your account |
| Purchase records | You delete your account; we also delete our subscription provider's copy. Apple, Google and, for purchases on the web, our payment provider keep their own payment records under their policies. The record of the terms you agreed to at a web checkout is kept for 3 years, or 1 year after your web subscription ends if that is later, also after you delete your account; it holds no name, email address or card details. |
| Documents for a number | You delete your account |
| Support conversations | Resolved, then deleted within 24 months |
| Server logs | 30 days at most |
| Encrypted database backups | Overwritten on a rolling schedule; gone within 30 days |
When a number leaves your account it is held, unassigned, for 90 days before it returns to the carrier, so its next owner does not receive texts or codes meant for you. Nothing sent to it in that time is delivered to anyone. The rules for when a free number is released are in the Terms of Service.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account destroys your data; it does not deactivate it. In the app, go to Settings, Account, Delete account. Without the app, use the account deletion page, which also lists exactly what is deleted and what is kept. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google; cancel it in your store settings. A subscription bought on the web is cancelled when you delete the account.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- Get a copy of your data in the app under Settings, Privacy, Export my data.
- Correct your account details in the app, or ask us.
- Delete your account and data, as described above.
- Withdraw consent for notifications, contacts, microphone, camera or personalised ads in your phone's settings or the app.
California and other US states
Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to access, correct and delete it; to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising; to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell personal information. Showing personalised ads through our advertising partners on the free plan may count as “sharing” under California law: you can opt out with the iPhone and Android controls above, by choosing Ad-free or Plus, or by emailing us. In the last 12 months we collected the categories listed under What we collect: identifiers, commercial information, internet or network activity, audio and electronic information, approximate location derived from IP address, and the content of your communications, which we use only to provide the service. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland
You also have the right to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
How to make a request
Email hello@2ndphoneline.com from the address on your account, or use the contact form. We confirm requests that could expose or remove data by writing to the email address on the account, and we reply within 30 days (45 days where a US state law allows it). An authorised agent can make a request for you with your signed permission.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers process data in the United States and other countries. When we transfer personal information from the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK and Swiss equivalents) or an adequacy decision.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who operate the service, and database rules keep each account's data visible only to that account. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
HopSlide is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your personal information, we tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
